Planning your trip to Da Nang

Climate and seasons

The hottest months in Da Nang are June to August, when temperatures can reach 40 °C and it is very humid. There are usually tropical storms from October to November.

Getting around

The average cabbie speaks no English, so the ride-hailing app Grab is very useful; rates are generally competitive with taxis. Motorbike taxis (xe ôm) are plentiful, cheap and generally quite safe. All riders must wear helmets, a rule that is strongly enforced, so make sure the driver supplies one.

Staying safe

Da Nang is safer and far more laid-back than Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, but it pays to follow some rules of thumb: avoid ostentatious jewellery or clothing, carry cash and copies of important papers in a thin wallet, and bring a rented motorbike inside at night.
