Planning your trip to Siem Reap

Getting around

The city centre is fairly compact and flat, with good, often wide, paved sidewalks (though sometimes used as parking). Siem Reap is a popular place to cycle, with some green-painted cycle paths and trails near the roads to Angkor Wat. Travel to and around the Angkor Archaeological Park is covered in its own Wikivoyage article.

Staying safe

Most locals are decent people, but a few try tricks to take advantage of visitors. Check your change in convenience stores, and be alert to deceptive dealers without letting suspicion ruin your trip. Street vendors and beggars, including a "beggar army" of young children, use cunning techniques to get your attention and money.
