Planning your trip to Kuala Lumpur
Climate and seasons
Kuala Lumpur is only 3 degrees north of the Equator, so expect tropical weather all year, with sunny days above 30 °C and slightly cooler evenings. Rainfall can be sporadic and quite torrential but usually does not last long. During the wet season, around October to March, the northeast monsoon brings heavy rainfall that can occasionally flood some areas.
Getting around
Public transport is fairly efficient and convenient but poorly integrated, and the city suffers from paralysing traffic jams throughout the day, so consider combining several methods. Touch 'n Go is a reloadable smart card that can pay for all public transport in the city.
Staying safe
Crime is not rampant in Kuala Lumpur, and the city is generally very safe for travellers, although pickpocketing and bag snatching have risen. Be wary of over-friendly locals trying to con you.
