Planning your trip to Taipei

Best time to visit

The most comfortable season to visit Taipei is the fall, when rainfall is at its lowest and temperatures average a pleasant mid-20s Celsius. February to April are particularly damp with little sunlight, while summers can be very hot and humid, often punctuated by heavy thunder showers. Taipei is prone to typhoons from May to October, most of all in August and September.

Getting around

Taipei's MRT (Metro Taipei) is very clean, efficient and safe, and widely lauded as one of the most reliable systems in the world. Stations are identified in English as well as Chinese, and stops are announced in six languages. Eating and drinking are not allowed in the stations or on the trains.

Staying safe

Taipei is one of the safest cities you will ever visit, and violent crime is extremely rare; most people, including female travellers, will not encounter problems walking alone at night. Pickpockets operate in crowded areas, particularly night markets, so watch your belongings.
