Planning your trip to Busan

Climate and seasons

Busan has a subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters; snow is rare. Summer temperatures often exceed 30 °C, and typhoons may occur from July to September.

Getting around

Transportation cards such as Cashbee, T-money and Railplus are accepted in the city and save money compared with paying cash. The Busan Metro has four lines, and scanning out of a bus or metro and into a bus within 30 minutes gives a discounted fare.

Staying safe

Busan is as safe as most places in South Korea, which is to say very safe, even for roaming at night. Be a little cautious when bars close around 03:00, and take care around Busan Station, the closest thing to seedy in the city. On the metro late at night you may meet loud, drunk older men; this is unlikely to be dangerous, so just move to another car.
