Planning your trip to Seychelles

Climate and seasons

Seychelles is hot and humid, with an average yearly temperature of about 29 °C and a sea temperature that rarely drops below 27 °C; sea breezes usually mitigate the heat. The cooler season is the southeast monsoon (May to September) and the warmer season the northwest monsoon (November to March), with April and October as changeover months when the wind is variable. The northwest monsoon is warmer with more rain, while the southeast monsoon is usually drier and cooler.

Getting around

Air Seychelles operates multiple daily flights between Mahé and Praslin, and also flies to some of the outer islands. Catamaran ferries operate between the main islands, and charter helicopter flights are available.

Staying safe

Avoid dark lanes and never leave a bag unattended; swimming alone on isolated beaches is not advisable. Tourist police are stationed at every beach on Mahé and are friendly and willing to help.
