Planning your trip to Luxor

Best time to visit

The best time to visit Luxor is in winter, from November to early March. Summers are extremely hot, the climate is very dry, and the change from winter to summer is abrupt.

Getting around

Uber does not work in Luxor, but its sister app Careem does, and InDrive also works. Bicycles can be rented on both the East and West Banks.

Staying safe

Touts can make sightseeing frustrating, although they tend not to stray into the temples. Inside temples, government guides can be aggressive about guiding you and then demanding a tip: anyone who shows you anything will expect one. Know where your accommodation is, or pre-book it, to avoid touts at the station.
