Planning your trip to Sharm El Sheikh
Getting around
Do not rely on taxi meters, which probably no longer work: agree a price first and note the driver's ID number. The tourist police can help if you have a problem or leave something in a taxi, but only if you have the taxi number. Arrange transport for your arrival, because Sharm el Sheikh airport is described as the worst place in Egypt for getting a reasonably priced taxi.
Staying safe
Traveler's diarrhea and stomach-ache are common among European travelers. Tap water is not drinkable (though considered fine for brushing teeth and showering), so always drink bottled water, and avoid food that is not cooked in front of you or that may have been stored without proper refrigeration.
