Planning your trip to Bogotá

Getting around

InDrive, Uber, Cabify and Didi cover the city. Ride-hailing apps are commonly used but are officially illegal in Colombia, so drivers can be hesitant to go to places where police may hassle them, such as bus stations, and may ask you to sit in front so you look like a friend. Yellow taxis are ubiquitous and affordable, but Wikivoyage warns about taxi cheating and the occasional taxi crime.

Staying safe

Bogotá is not nearly as dangerous as it once was. The principal safety concerns for travelers are pickpockets and the occasional taxi crime; mugging rates have gone down greatly but muggings still occur occasionally.
