Planning your trip to Puerto Vallarta

Climate and seasons

Puerto Vallarta has a tropical climate with dry winters and rainy summers. The average daily high is 27 °C in January (the coldest month) and 32 °C in July (the hottest). The rainy season extends from mid-June through mid-October, and August is the wettest month. February, March and April have the least rain and cloud cover, and hurricanes seldom strike.

Getting around

Uber covers the city. Hotels may provide a price list for cabs and offer expensive transport from the airport, but it is much cheaper to take a taxi. Tip a taxi driver only if he did something beyond normal transportation.

Staying safe

The beaches and hotels have security people familiar with the area, and local tourist police concentrate on keeping the area safe for visitors. Avoid confrontations with the police: respect and co-operation go a long way.
